2010 Brit Awards Winner Visits The College
The BRIT Awards is always a major event in the music industry calendar and this year was no exception featuring performances from Jay Z, Alicia Keys, and Lady Gaga. Although the level of controversy at the ceremony (see Jarvis Cocker vs. Michael Jackson in 1996) may no longer match up to years gone by, the prestige of the awards has by no means diminished.
Having welcomed producer Paul Epworth into the Point Blank studios just a week earlier we certainly knew who we were rooting for… And we weren’t disappointed! Paul not only picked up the gong for Producer Of The Year but his major project of the year, Florence and the Machine’s debut album ‘Lungs’, also won Best Album. So well done to Paul who has sealed his reputation as one of the hottest producers in the world!
His visit to Point Blank Studios in London was the latest in our series of VIP masterclasses, aimed at giving the students at the college an extra bit of inspiration and insight into what it takes to succeed in the music industry. Paul spent a couple of hours talking about his rise to the top and covered topics including favourite pieces of studio gear, his own secret production tips, insights into the working dynamic between himself and artists such as Bloc Party and Florence and the Machine, as well as some exciting new names to look out for in 2010!
